It’s been over a full year now for countless rumor updates, endless leaked images and variable analyst reports smudging every news page launch of iPhone 5, talks of its features and discussions. And finally now, there’s no need for assumptions. Apple officially brings aka. iPhone 5 on stage!
Yes we have been very excited for this day to arrive and we are sure for Apple fans to wait for this surprise in a same anticipating way. Though it’s thesixth generation iPhone to take its existence but officially it is called iPhone 5.
In addition to new look, the latest smartphone has also received a slew of spec and hardware and updates. To get into the surprising details and see what’s changed, what’s new and what has stayed the same, here’s a review for Apple’s smart king.
Outlook of iPhone 5:
The sixth-generation iPhone as expected is taller, thinner and packed with a metal back. For those who had their iPhone 4 or 4S being broken and cracking once it fell can now be happy for not having to face this with this new dimension smartphone. The back of iPhone 5 has been replaced from glass to metal.
The screen is bigger now and it’s taller in look. The crispness, brightness and amazing result are a character of Apple devices, so that’s there and definitely better. As far as the weight is concerned,iPhone 5 is 20 percent lighter in weight which means that it would feel like a feather when held after iPhone 4S. The difference might not seem a lot in digits but yes it’s a huge difference.
As rumored and expected, it is thinner than its previous predecessors. It is 0.30 inch in thickness, precisely 18 percent thinner then iPhone 4S (0.30 inch thick). When talking of numbers, it is 3.95 ounces in weight when iPhone 4S was 4.95 ounces heavy. With a 4-inch Retina Display and 1,136×640-pixel resolution and 326ppi; 16:9 aspect ratio, new iPhone does offer significant changes.
For user’s this significantly means a fifth row of icon can now show on the screen, thus cutting on the number of home screens. Apple’s promise is for iPhone 5 to show better results for wide-screen videos and for the color saturation to be 44 percent more then iPhone 4S.
iPhone 5 keeps the iSight camera (main shooter) same as before but with resolution being 3,264×2, 448, hybrid IR filter, f2.4 aperture, illumination at backside the results will be enhanced. There is a new dynamic light mode, which would make photography apps launch 2.1 times faster. Image signal processor in A6 chip is another new addition, this one advanced feature that most of you would have been waiting for. It will reduce the spatial noise because of a smart filter that causes production of low-light photos. And finally, a built-in panorama mode stitches all shots together for a large 28-megapixel photo.
The second front camera is now capable of shooting 720p HD video plus it has a backside illuminated sensor now.
Video resolution has been taken to the next level, well, not in sense of its resolution as it still remains 1080p HD. But it does offer image stability and while making a video; it enables you to take images as well. Moreover, face detection has been added to clips for a number of 10 people to max.
LTE Addition:
iPhone 5 is providing support for 4G LTE networks, which though not shocking but a confirmation to rumors. The previous supported networks included GPRS, EDGE, EV-DO, and HSPA data networks and now LTE comes in addition to the existing networks. LTE features single voice chip, a single radio chip and a dynamic antenna that will provide switching between various networks and connections automatically.

- For United States; AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon Wireless. (T-mobile is not included)
- For Canada; Bell, Telus, Fido, Virgin, and Kudo.
- For Asia; providers include SoftBank, SmarTone, SingTel, and SK Telecom.
- For Australia; Telstra, Optus, and Virgin Mobile.
- For Europe; Deutsche Telekom and EE.
And for those carriers that are without LTE, iPhone 5 will be running on dual-band 3.5G HDPA+.
Audio Enhancement:
iPhone 5 had to bring out new features to give a new feeling; and that is why it has an additional microphone now added. There will be three microphones now, one is at the bottom, one is situated on the front face and the third one is on the rear side.
The new feature also includes addition of 5 magnets to speakers. This is definitely to improve noise canceling feature, it would use 20 percent less space, and a new wideband audio feature to make the voices sound more natural.
The iPhone 5 is now offering an A6 chip, which is 2 xs faster than A5 chip. The new chip is a huge improvement, it will result in faster speeds in graphics, and despite being small it is to offer a speedier performance. As per Apple’s announcement, this new chip will make Web pages load 2.1 xs faster, and t Music apps would load 1.9xs faster.
Better Battery Life:
iPhone 5 is featuring to deliver a very respectable battery life. Apple said it will support 8 hours of 3G talk time, 8 hours of LTE browsing, 8 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 40 hours of music playback, 10 hours of video playback, and what more than 225 hours of standby time.
