Miami Beach’s Ocean Drive was the glamorous setting earlier this month for a successful attempt at the world record for Longest Fashion Show.

While regular fashion shows last for around 10 to 15 minutes, this marathon runway show which featured models wearing only outfits created with Cotton, lasted for a record-setting 24 hours and 28 seconds.

Organised by Cotton Incorporated in partnership with PEOPLE magazine to showcase the versatility of the fabric, the show featured 60 different models wearing 4,000 different items of clothing from 75 different brands, revealing a “look-a-minute” over the course of 24 hours.

More than 50 hair and makeup artists were on hand during the attempt, which saw the models walk a combined distance of 96 miles.

Hosted by Giuliana and Bill Rancic, E! News’ co-host and Miami native Jason Kennedy and TV Host and Michael Yo from “The Insider” on CBS, Cotton’s 24 Hour Runway Show also featured performances and appearances by Jason Derulo, Trey Smith, Fantine, D.J. Irie and fashion icon Olivia Palermo.

The event, which also served as one of several Miami Beach Centennial celebration, proved a big hit online with more than 1.2 million viewers logging on to watch a live stream of the attempt.

Marketing director for Cotton Inc., Marisa Barlin, who organized the event, said she felt “very emotional” because Miami Beach had “made history” thanks to the holding of this event in the city.

“We have been able to see the chemistry and the good atmosphere that Miami has with this great event. Breaking the Guinness record is something unbelievable, although it was tough, finally we’ve done it,” Barlin added.
